Preserving Indigenous People’s Tradition and Culture The National Commission on
Indigenous People (NCIP) was inviting us to participate on the Indigenous People’s Month and the Celebration for the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA). This occasion was held on the whole month of October with a theme Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalan” or “Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge”. The NCIP also held an exhibit which highlights the indigenous people’s cuisine that was held on the 16th of October.
This celebration aims to highlight the indigenous peoples and its importance to the society. Moreover, this month-long celebration focuses on the different cultures and traditions of indigenous people which helps to recognize their knowledges which enhances the understanding of people. This gives awareness to the people on what are the different indigenous people present in our nation. This event symbolizes the unity of our nation without leaving other groups of people behind.
In conclusion, this festivity shows how important the indigenous people to our community. It protects the identity and the rights of the other people that also belongs to our country. Moreover, it also preserves the culture and tradition of other people for future generations. And lastly, this event is shows respect and inclusivity to all of people which creates a more unified nation.
